Some information about Fastcomm

What follows are copies of several messages on the EVI/Fastcomm
Conference, which is part of the Capitol Connection BBS, which can
be reached at: 1-202-280-5490. Mr. Bob Abbott, the technical engineer
from Fastcomm, indicates the telephone numbers at which the Fastcomm
people can be contacted. If you have any questions or concerns about
V.32 standard Fastcomm modems contact Mr. Abbott at one of the numbers
shown in the messages. Please note that Fastcomm will take 2400 baud
modems in trade for one of their fast Fastcomm 9696 v.32 modems.
If you have any questions I may help with, please contact Pete
Tiffany, SYSOP of LOTT-O-LUCK BBS (Data) at: 415-458-6404.

This conference is being started to give you, the user, a chance to ask
questions and get information on modems in general and of course about
Fastcomm Communications in particular. We plan to offer the BBS user a
"good deal" on modems and to use this as another way to provide support.
Of course we can still be reached at (703)-620-3900. 800-521-2496
outside of Virginia and the local area.
In any case, as it says above, I'm Bob Abbott and I'll try to be here
often.

Gerald, Fastcomm has a sysop deal of $649 for the FDX9696 which is a
V.32, MNP-5 modem. This will communicate with all the V.32's out there
and as the modems with V.42 error correction come out, will work with
them doing error correction. V.42 has an MNP compatible mode to work
with existing MNP modems. That price is the straight cash price, we are
currently accepting "name-brand" 2400 and up modems in trade at $499
plus the trade-in. This gets you the up-grade to 9600 for $499 which is
about what you probably gave for your 2400 modem. You can call Ron in
our sales dept or me at Fastcomm at 703-620-3900 or if out of Virginia
and the DC area, 800-521-2496 for details or to order.

A V.32 modem offers true 9600 bits per second full duplex communications
over the dial-up phone network. V.32 offers compatibility between
vendors, like you expect at 1200 and 2400, as opposed to the various
different 9600's we have had in the past.
V.32 is certainly where high speed will be for quite a while and the
prices are coming down as you can see from my earlier replies. I'll be
getting more technical details on this conference soon, or you can call
us at 703-620-3900 or 800-521-2496 for info. Be glad to help.
