On Sunday April 3, 1994 Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Superstation+s
program +Network Earth+ included in its half hour program about environmental
issues a segment about the commercial applications of Cannabis Hemp.
The program focused on the use of Cannabis as a material to manufacture
composite building materials manufactured by C&S Lumber of Harrisburg OR. During
the program they showed Hemp composite board exceed the strength of composite
board made from Pine Trees. They also showed the segment host Peggy Knapp in a
+Tug-O-War+ using only a small sample of Cannabis fiber.
The program also featured a number of other products and companies that
can be made from hemp including Ice Cream made from Hemp Seed and Clothing made
from Cannabis Cloth.
+HEMP FOR VICTORY+ GETS FIRST INTERNATIONAL AIRING
The program also included clips from the United States Department of
Agriculture film +Hemp for Victory+. The program showed clips of American Hemp,
grown in Minnesota and Wisconsin, being examined and harvested as a part of the
World War II war effort.
This is the first time any major media has aired +Hemp for Victory+ in
the United States. Many U. S. media outlets have been given the opportunity to
air this unique film. Despite the fact that Hemp for Victory has been shown on
Major TV programs in countries like England, and as far away as Australia this
is the FIRST TIME that the film has been aired nationally in the United States.
