Hello again! Happy Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, and
Sukkot, to those who are celebrating.
I continue to be in communication with EMI, but have no
new news to report. Maybe next week.
In this issue: "Building Empires," getting tickets,
"Operation: LIVEcrime," confusing videos, Queensryche's best
songs, bands that claim to be Queensrychian but aren't, people
without VCR's, and an actual QRYCHE net node.

I stopped in Camelot Records, and inquired on the
"Building Empires" video. They said the release date is November
3, not October 20. It may have been pushed back yet again. She
had no information on what it exactly entailed.

        kad@iris129.biosym.com (Kinga) writes,
I'm preparing $18.69 to get the new video since that's
what I was told it will cost at Tower Records.
{I've asked at a couple of the mall stores around
here, and the going price in the malls will most
                        likely be $20 or less, also.  -sh}

        00jjguske@leo.bsuvc.bsu.edu (Jason) writes,
I saw a magazine for upcoming releases and "Building
Empires" was in there. It did say that there are songs from the
Unplugged show. I can't remember which ones but if my failing
memory works, all the songs from the special were there. Can't
        wait until the 20th.
                        {Yay!  Unplugged stuff!  -sh}

Exactly what is on "Operation: LIVEcrime?" Is it a full
length concert or a collection of videos and live performances?
I am considering asking for it for my birthday.
{"Operation: LIVEcrime" is a video and live CD of
"Operation: mindcrime," taken from the 1990-1992
Building Empires tour. Some of the material on
the new "Building Empires" video will also be
                        from that tour.  -sh}

I saw a band called Dr. X in a local club. Before their
show, I asked the guitar player what the Queensryche connection
was. Their songs were supposed to go in some conceptual flow.
But after seeing them play and listening to them I couldn't find
any concept at all. In two words: they sucked. I just wished
they'd change their name to something non-Queensryche related.

I will be making a Queensryche sampler tape for someone.
I have 90 minutes of tape to squeeze in the best of Queensryche.
I want to show them off in the best way possible. I would like
your suggestions. Mail me privately via the above address. The
person I'm making the tape is a fanatic Rush fan if that helps,
and has never heard anything by Queensryche before. I know many
of you are also Rush fans. I have all of Queensryche's albums on
CD, but I don't have any of the singles. I was kind of leaning
toward including mostly stuff from "Rage for Order" forward. Let
        me know what you think.

Regarding the tunnel/tube question in the video for 'The
Mission,' I figured that this was the barrel of a gun. Don't
quite know what the statue face thing is, but the multicolors
seem to be the rifling inside the barrel of the gun. I think we
know what the significance of the gun is, eh?

        Tina.Briones@ebay.sun.com (Tina) writes,
Responding to Steve about the difficulty getting concert
tickets these days: I completely agree!
Sunday 10/4, U2 tickets went on sale here in San Jose,
California. They're playing in November at the Oakland Coliseum
where the A's play. This place fits 60,000 people. My husband
has heard that they put on an awesome show, visually as well as
musically, so he decided we should check them out. The line was
ridiculous of course, but so were the phone lines. All day off
and on I tried getting through because I also wanted tickets to
another concert. Before the day was up U2 had sold out. I'm not
too disappointed because I only like some of their music and only
own one CD by them, but I do think the situation sucks terribly!
There are also many times when I don't hear about a show
until it's too late and it's sold out, or lots of times -
especially with Michael Schenker - the show is cancelled due to
low sales. Don't these people realize that if we heard about
these shows we'd buy the tickets? Basically Bill Graham Presents
ticks me off, as well as club owners and radio stations here in
the Bay Area of lovely California. I swear I am just about to
give up on going to concerts at all, except of course for
        Queensryche!
I bought my mom 2 tickets to Neil Diamond for her
birthday and said that I'd take her and we'd have a girls night
out. Those tickets were purchased back in June for a total of
$65.00 for October 2. This was a total fiasco all because of
Bill Graham Presents being totally unorganized. This show was
again at the Coliseum, but indoors. There was a baseball game
that night also, so there was no parking whatsoever when my mom
and I arrived. We were a little late, 5 minutes before the show
was to start. There wasn't anyone telling the thousands of late
people where to park or anything. Oakland is not a safe place to
be for anyone let alone two women who have no idea where they
are, so we couldn't just park far away and walk unless we had
weapons, which we didn't. After driving around for 45 minutes
and finally finding a security guard we asked where we could
park. The answer, "auxiliary parking." Which is where? "Over
the freeway, and shuttles will be bringing people over as they
can." End of conversation. Auxiliary parking was a joke.
Totally packed and only a couple of shuttles for all these
people. My mom was furious so we left. Down the drain $65.00.
I think the whole concert situation is terrible for us
fans. It's just big business like most other things.

Since I'm in the no-money-for-a-video-player period in
my life, and since there is a Queensryche video coming out, and
since I have a cassette-player, the following question:
Is there anyone out there, who is willing to tape the
video for me on cassette, as soon as it's released, or later?

In volume 50 of the digest, Paul Gallegos wrote that he
had added the members of Queensryche as moderators to his
VAXnotes conference. He also wrote, "There is no DEC node QRYCHE
by the way, I made that up."
I beg to differ! Maybe on your school system there is
no QRYCHE, but here at Digital, I've had the nodename QRYCHE for
years, ever since I got my first workstation! Although I usually
use my cluster alias, "dpe", you should also be able to reach me
        at "starr@qryche.enet.dec.com".

I'd like to start building up a slight backlog of information, so
the issue size can be kept a little more constant, instead of the
