        _Screaming in Digital______________________________Editor's Note_

                Greetings once again from Tucson, a city where the radio
        stations actually _play_ Queensryche... but alas, this weekend I
        must return to the Philadelphia broadcast area, and go back to
        leaving "Rage" on repeat-play for days on end. So, to all the
        fans here in Tucson, nice meeting you; to all in New Jersey, I'll
        be back.
                It seems that all but about 5 people have gone on holiday
        this week, so I'd like to particularly thank those who sent stuff
        in for this issue!
                Anyway, on with the show.

        FANCLUB NEWSLETTER?     ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                Has anyone heard from Sushi lately? I haven't received
        the spring or summer newsletter yet. I wrote to him a few weeks
        ago and have heard nothing.
                        {Last I heard, Sushi's still alive, but the next
                        newsletter isn't done yet.  -sh}

        NEW ALBUM?              iscladoc@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu (Allan)
                With the release of 'Real World' can we be expecting a
        new LP soon?
                        {Nope, the new album won't be out for months.
                        'Real World' is off the "Last Action Hero"
                        soundtrack.  -sh}

        LOST UNPLUGGED SONGS    ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                I heard that when the guys recorded eMpTyV Unplugged,
        they recorded a total of 7 or 8 songs. So that means that 2 or
        3 didn't make it to to final viewing. Anyone know what songs
        these were? Any bootlegs out there that have these?
                        {The two that weren't shown were 'Anybody
                        Listening?' and 'Scarborough Fair.' There are
                        no known bootlegs containing the unplugged
                        versions of those songs; I suspect they may be
                        used as B-sides in the future.  -sh}

        QUEENSRYCHE & RUSH      jaegard@thunder.lakeheadu.ca (John)
                We were discussing Peter Collins, who produced two albums
        for Rush in the last decade, over on the Rush mailing list, and
        the topic of Queensryche came up. I suggested that it might be
        interesting, although not very conceivable, to hear Rush do some
        Queensryche tunes, maybe 'Della Brown' or 'I Dream in Infrared.'
        I'd give my eye teeth to see what Queensryche would do with
        'Xanadu' or '2112.' I got flamed big time on the Rush list,
        anybody got some napalm here or is this a good idea? Rush is
        set to release a new album at about the same time as Queensryche.
        Great, now which one do I buy first?

        JEAN-LUC GALIANA        ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                I just wanted to add my comments about Jean-Luc Galiana.
        For those of you who don't know who he is, he's an artist who
        does a lot of drawings for the Fan Club newsletter and such. His
        drawings are really amazing.
                I've only seen them in black and white, so the color ones
        should be even better. If anyone is interested, the newsletter
        has a form where you can purchase some of his better drawings. I
        think they are around $25 for 9 or 10 drawings.

        ROCK & THE ENVIRONMENT ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                Has there been any info about the "Rock and the
        Environment" concert last year? I was wondering what tracks they
        played. I believe it was June 6th of last year.
                        {At that show, Queensryche performed 'Best I
                        Can,' 'Empire,' 'Revolution Calling,' 'Della
                        Brown,' 'I Don't Believe in Love,' 'Take Hold of
                        the Flame,' 'Spreading the Disease,' and
                        'Electric Requiem.'  See v33 for more.  -sh}

        ANYBODY LISTENING?      ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                Are there two different releases of 'Anybody Listening?'
        on CD single imports? I have the US release with 'Scarborough
        Fair.' For some reason, I remember seeing one UK import, with
        two different versions of the song - radio edit and LP version.
        If anyone has the UK version they'd like to sell, you've got a
        buyer.

        _The Whisper__________________________________________Discussion_

        RAGE                    jaegard@thunder.lakeheadu.ca (John)
                Am I alone in liking "Rage for Order" best out of all
        Queensryche's albums? In my opinion, it has the perfect mix of
        concept and execution. The story is vague enough to lead to all
        kinds of interesting interpretations, and it's not nearly as
        drawn out as "Mindcrime."
                I got the impression that the boys weren't that impressed
        with their efforts on "Rage." Sure, the band photos were brutal.
        I'm sure all kinds of interesting discussions have taken place
        regarding the story of "Rage." Here's the way I see it:
        Boy meets girl (before the album starts).
        Boy loses girl ('Walk in the Shadows').
        Boy loses sense of passion ('I Dream in Infrared').
        Boy discovers old mentor, some kind of computer military boob
        ('The Whisper').
        Boy tries to get girl back ('Gonna Get Close to You').
        Boy fails miserably ('The Killing Words,' best breakup song ever
        written).
        Boy falls completely under spell of mentor ('Surgical Strike').
        Mentor gloats over a plan for computer-moderated revolution
        ('Neue Regel').
        Mentor's army does a tune ('Chemical Youth').
        Boy is struck by memories of girl but can't remember her name;
        finds this disturbing ('London').
        Boy confronts mentor ('Screaming In Digital').
        Boy is forced somehow to join with the computer. Story ends with
        boy watching girl through computer ('I Will Remember').
                There are a couple of loose ends here - the allusions to
        the girl's death in 'London,' the allusions to the boy having
        some kind of telepathic ability in 'I Will Remember.' I'd really
        like to hear some feedback on this.

        BOOTLEG SONG TITLES     ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                Today I was looking at one of my bootlegs, "Disease is
        Rampant." As I was looking, I found something quite interesting.
        Whoever put out the CD, whatever company it is, has an unusual
        interpretation of Queensryche song titles.
                'Reich' - 'Queen of the Reich'
                'X'                     - 'Anarchy X'
                'Calling 1776'          - 'Revolution Calling'
                'Crime of the Mind' - 'Operation: Mindcrime'
                'Talk'                  - 'Speak'
                'Disease is Rampant' - 'Spreading the Disease'
                'Hold the Fire' - 'Take Hold of the Flame'
                'Truth of the Needle' - 'The Needle Lies'
                'Android'               - 'Chemical Youth'
                'Eyes' - 'Eyes of a Stranger'
                        {If the bootleg was from a show in a country
                        where English is not the primary language, some
                        of them may have been mis-translated.  -sh}

        MESSAGE FROM X          ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                In regards to the "Message from X" tape I have, I've been
        told it came with a rosary. But to my misfortune, I never
        received it. Does anyone out there have one that they are
        willing to sell?

        BOOT TRADES?            gerhard@jason.nl (Gerhard)
                Anyone interested in trading boots with me (taped
        copies)? I don't have much Queensryche stuff (in fact I only
        have 2, "Unplugged and Other Stories" and "The Nebulosity of...,"
        but I've a reasonable amount of other boots (Pink Floyd,
        Metallica, Marillion, Fish, Waterboys). If you're interested,
        send a message to me and I'll send you my list.

        QUEENSRYCHE NOVELTY     ryche@delphi.com (Kevin)
                What is this world coming to? The other day I was
        skimming through Metal Edge magazine, and to my surprise, guess
        what I found? An ad for Queensryche condoms... ugh!
                        {Tri-ryche shaped, with points?  Kinky!  -sh}
