_Screaming in Digital______________________________Editor's Note_
Hello again, everyone! This being the 99th issue, I feel
that it would be appropriate to thank everyone for reading and
contributing to this digest for so long. Since we're scattered
geographically, there's not going to be a party, sorry... but if
you were around for the beginning, you can talk about the "good
old days" now. Of course, paleontologists will probably be
eyeing you with interest, by now.
In what seems a very fitting twist of fate, this issue
is going to 1,000 addresses. I think a few of those are going
to bounce and need removal, though, so keep spreading the disease
as always!
For those users in Europe and Australia who were talking
to Joe Berrios (you know who you are), please send him mail
again, his computer crashed and he lost all your addresses. His
is, of course, berrios@arrakis.csee.usf.edu. Thanks!
If anyone has the article from the late 1980s lying
around that contained a list of Geoff Tate's favorite albums,
please mail it to me - I had it, but lost it.

NEW ALBUM Rick <cn193@cleveland.freenet.edu>
I just wanted to let you know I have been to 2 record
stores lately and they both told me the new Queensryche album as
of now is expected to be released in September or October.
{I talked to EMI this past week, and they said
they didn't have it on their release list yet,
which at this point covers both months! -sh}

CONCEPT ALBUMS Alex <harden@acsu.buffalo.edu>
Why is it that any album that has songs which fade into
one another is a "concept album?" I'll give in and say that "III
Sides..." is sort-of a concept album, but more so in the
arrangement of the tracks and musical styles than lyrics and the
like. But "Ten?" You've got to be kidding!
INVISIBILITY Christina <soeryant@egr.msu.edu>
I am kind of tired of reading and hearing all the
discussion about the band and the guys. I am feeling, like,
jealous or such, of other bands who appear again and again
anywhere, although I realize that a cool band would not easily
release a new album without a surprise and something worth note,
which I hope and am pretty sure that the guys will do,
presenting a cool album, shortly. What do ya think?
{Yes, it's very frustrating when a favorite band
goes invisible between albums. But they'll be
visible again soon! -sh}
_Roads to Madness__________________________________________Shows_
OPENING ACTS Jorge <15062998r@servax.fiu.edu> ]
Everybody's wondering who would be the ideal opening act
for Queensryche if they toured. How about trying these out for
size:
Nine Inch Nails - way different, but way cool. Would
give the show a little cutting edge.
Voivod - one of the best in progressive metal. Would
compliment Queensryche pretty well.
Danzig - I just like them, no other reason. Besides,
Danzig and Tate are the two best vocalists on earth.
Dream Theater - a little too similar to Queensryche, but
still good.
Of course there is my dream tour of Juliana Hatfield,
Cypress Hill, and Queensryche. Why? I just like all three.
Groups who shouldn't open for Queensryche? Ugly Kid Joe,
Fates Warning - too similar, Enuff Znuff, and of course, Jackyl,
who are opening up for everyone else.

PROMO CD Christina <soeryant@egr.msu.edu> ]
I am just wondering what so special is about a promo CD.
Is it just because it is rather difficult to find, like people
always say, or there is something else about it?
{Promo - short for promotional - CD's are given
to radio stations by the label. They're not
sold in normal record stores like CD singles,
and usually contain different material. -sh}
REAL WORLD CD SINGLE Jorge <15062998r@servax.fiu.edu>
Here is the final word on the 'Real World' CD single -
there is none. Not everything is released on CD single. With
some of the titles i see at my store coming in on CD single, I
can only assume that record companies decide this by throwing
darts or something. Watch out, songs have a habit of winding up
on import singles every once in a while. it just happened with
STP's 'Sex Type Thing' way after it was released here.
_The Whisper__________________________________________Discussion_
LUCID DREAMING Windigo <pmbail01@starbase.spd.louisville.edu>
For those a while back wondering about the subject matter
of 'Silent Lucidity,' there is a series of articles in the new
Omni magazine about the subject of lucid dreaming and dream
control, including articles on how one can learn to dream
lucidly. Very interesting reading anyways, but especially when
listening to the song - it all comes together.
RUSH & QUEENSRYCHE Brian <vhalen@acs.bu.edu>
You know, there's about one song I'd like to hear Rush
play that's written by Queensryche. That song is 'Waiting for
22.' That way I don't have to listen to Geddy Lee's annoying
voice, and the band will only have to play for a very short time.
Call me crazy, but am I the only Queensryche fan who
doesn't like Rush? It seems that Dream Theater fits into that
category too.
{In my experience, some fans like almost every
progressive band, others just Queensryche. -sh}
REPLACING GEOFF? Jorge <15062998r@servax.fiu.edu> ]
I'd like to pose a question to everyone out there. Let's
say Geoff Tate were to go solo one day - I know, the world would
end - who would you want to replace him if the group continued?
Here's my opinion: it has to be something newsworthy and
shocking, so don't choose someone from a group too similar to
Queensryche - Fates Warning, Dream Theater, etc. They have to
have Geoff's range, and they have to add a new dimension to the
group. That only leaves one person - Mariah Carey... not!
What's everyone else's opinion?
{If a fixation with death and evil counts as a
new dimension, how about King Diamond? -sh}
LAST ACTION HERO Anne-Marie <debont@kub.nl>
I've been to see the movie Last Action Hero on August
5th, which was the premiere in the Netherlands. It was fun, lots
of absolutely unnecessary violence, and a very thin story line,
but what the heck, it's relaxing, especially when your holiday is
just starting.
Even though Mr. Schwarzenegger claims it's less violent
than his previous film - only 48 people killed, instead of 119 -
there's still enough shooting and bombing and chasing going on to
please the fans.
What did surprise me though, was the very inconspicuous
role of the music. I mean, I wanted to hear the Queensryche
song, but I don't think I really heard it. Once or twice there
was something that could have been the song, but then the
dialogue in the film continued and the music disappeared. So, I
will just have to wait until the CD single is out, because I
don't want to have the soundtrack CD.
