                Happy Birthday Chris (Tuesday) and Scott (Wednesday)! I
        still haven't managed to pester EMI more about the CD-ROM - sorry
        about that, international folks. The new FTP setup is finished
        and operational, though, so feel free to have a look around it.

                I remember reading that one of the guitarists in
        Queensryche said they are the heaviest music he listens to, and
        he's more into new age. Can anyone give more details?
                        {I don't know if I've heard that comment exactly,
                        but I know historically various members have been
                        mentioned as fans of everything from Ultravox to
                        Mariah Carey.  -sh}

                If I recall correctly, the original Woodstock did have a
        fee of $24. Those were the days! Yet so many people had shown
        up that they were unable to check everybody for a ticket. Hence,
        a lot of people got in for free. Oh, by the way, this is what I
        have read and heard. I'm only 30, so I was not there to have a
        first hand account.

        'Rychestock?            Gerhard <gerhard@jason.nl>
                As far as I remember the original Woodstock was _not_
        free, it was just that at a certain point everybody outside
        wanted in, and they tore down the fences and came in.
                        {It could happen again, too!  -sh}

                Anybody in the Massachusetts or New Hampshire area can
        see Operation: Mindcrime - yes, a tribute band - at the Rockpile
        in Saugus, MA on June 24th. I will probably go just to see if
        the singer can hit the notes that the one and only Geoff Tate
        can hit - you gotta love Geoff's voice. Anyone wanting
        directions, just e-mail me.

                I saw a WWW page address in one of the back issues of
        SiD. At the time I really didn't pay much heed because I didn't
        have any access to the WWW. I have just gotten a working copy of
        WinMosaic to run on my home system, and have been poking around
        on the Web. What I'd really like to do is to check out the
        Queensryche home page that was advertised a few issues back.
        Unfortunately, I don't recall what the address was.
                        {The home address is awful long, but here it is:
     http://www.cs.cmu.edu:8001/afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/nkramer/ryche/ryche.html
                        I think a shorter one is in the works.  -sh}

                I can understand Geoff's and Chris's feelings about cover
        and tribute bands. I think cover bands are OK as they don't try
        to make money off of other people's music. Something like
        Vanilla Ice's use of Queen's 'Under Pressure' music is very low,
        and M.C. Hammer using 'Superfreak' for 'Can't Touch This' is
        lame. I would think bands would be flattered by tribute bands,
        but after reading about the interview, I can see why they don't
        like them!

        Myth?                   Stephen <sgorny1@umbc2.umbc.edu>
                Two weeks ago, Shag made a comment concerning Geoff's old
        band, Myth. I've been a Queensryche fan for almost 10 years, but
        had never heard of that band until Shag mentioned it. Can anyone
        provide any info on them, such as how long they were together,
        what time period, whether they released anything, etc?
                        {Myth hasn't been mentioned on the digest in a
                        while. Geoff was in Myth after college but
                        before joining The Mob. After he left, the band
                        stayed together for a while and shopped around
                        for a record deal. In SiD v.68, Mark Hopkins of
                        Microsoft wrote that Myth is no more, but that
                        most of the members are still active in the
                        Seattle music scene.  -sh}

        Unreleased Songs        Rebecca <rmartinez@spmc-server.jpl.nasa.gov>
                In SiD 142, Kinga requested the lyrics to some unreleased
        Queensryche songs. I was wondering if anyone has the songs, let
        alone the lyrics. I've never heard those songs and would really
        love to hear them. If anyone does have them and would be willing
        to work something out so that I could get hold of the songs,
        please let me know. The names of the songs are 'Waiting for the
        Kill,' 'The Dream,' 'From the Darkside,' 'Rage for Order' and
        'Ballad in Bm.'

                Well, I have found 11 bootleg CD's from Queensryche.
        Although a lot of people want the "Unplugged and Other Stories"

        sessions, called "Silent Lucidity." I've tried to give a brief
        description of the CD's without writing all the song lists out.
