                Welcome once again, and happy Labor Day to those in the
        US - particularly those who have the day off from work and thus
        won't see this until Tuesday! No, I still haven't managed to get
        in touch with EMI; why can't record companies be open 24 hours?
        But enough of my babble.

        French Release?         Marko <marko.lemieux@der.edf.fr>
                I'm glad to hear that the new album will finally be out
        October 18. Is there any release date for France?
                        {My contact at EMI said the album is planned for
                        a global release, so we can hope it will be out
                        that same day in France also.  -sh}

        CD-ROM                  Dan <wrench@jakesys.sol.net>
                Is there any release date set yet for the Queensryche
        CD-ROM? I can't wait to see what's going to be on it. I'd also
        have to agree with Ben that "Operation: Mindcrime" would make a
        great play.
                        {The CD-ROM will theoretically be released at the
                        same time as the album.  -sh}

        UK Tour?                Mork <mjt@rowan.coventry.ac.uk>
                Has anyone heard anything about Queensryche's intention
        for their tour to support the new album? It has been ages since
        they played here in the UK, save Donnington, and I'd love to go
        see them again. If anyone has any details or rumors I'd like to
        hear from them.
                        {The last word I had from EMI was that there
                        would be a "world tour," so they should be going
                        to Europe as usual.  -sh}

        Song Availability       Larry <hcicc01.rebenn01@ssw.alcoa.com>
                I was wondering if there was any way to obtain a copy of
        'Last Time in Paris,' other than on the Ford Fairlane soundtrack.
        Was this track recorded specifically for that soundtrack or was
        it just an extra track in the Queensryche catalog? Also, did
        anyone notice the similarity of this track's intro to 'Time' on
        Tesla's last studio album?
                Also, after coming across a Queensryche interpretation
        of 'Scarborough Fair' on a promotional 3-song disc, I was
        wondering how many other songs were available which were not on
        the primary studio albums, such as 'Real World' from Last Action
        Hero.
                I was unable to catch the Unplugged session, although a
        couple of tracks were used in the "Building Empires" video.
        Which songs were performed, and is there a CD available?
                        {'Scarborough Fair' is available on European CD
                        singles of 'Empire' and US singles of 'Anybody
                        Listening?' 'Last Time in Paris' is on the
                        singles for 'Another Rainy Night.' Rumor had it
                        they played 7 songs for Unplugged, but only 5
                        were shown, and the 3 that aren't on "Building
                        Empires" are only available on bootlegs.  -sh}

        Selling Bootlegs        Shawn <smason@badlands.nodak.edu>
                I'd like to get some bootleg stuff, when I finally get
        the funds to, but I basically can't understand why anyone who
        subscribes to this newsletter would want to sell any of their
        Queensryche stuff. Can someone help me understand why someone
        would do that. It's great to see people that know where to get
        the stuff, but once they got it, to turn around and sell it
        boggles my mind.
                        {I don't think anyone would sell the first copy
                        they got of something, but sometimes people get
                        more than one of something. A couple years ago
                        I found two copies of a vinyl single at a store,
                        and bought one for myself. Months later the
                        other one was still there, so I bought it and
                        re-sold it to another fan.  -sh}

        Mary's Death            Larry <hcicc01.rebenn01@ssw.alcoa.com>
                I'm amazed that Mary's death is still a topic of
        discussion. I think spending too much time analyzing this topic
        takes away from all the other aspects of the album. Is it not
        simply enough that Nikki found her dead and grieved, choosing his
        next course of action based on her death? The manner of her
        death has been hotly contested since the album's issue, and there
        is simply not enough information to know for sure how she died.
        Some, including Metal Sushi, state that it was suicide, but in
        the original Mindcrime videos, Dr. X is seen walking through the
        church with a rosary gripped in his hands as if preparing to
        strangle. Regardless, Nikki sensed the impending frame-up and
        went into hiding, and the album does continue on from that event.
                Perhaps we should also begin a debate on whether Dr. X
        was a driver or passenger when he tells Nikki to kill Mary, and
        what make and model the car was, based on the time it takes to
        roll down the electric window and the tone of the exhaust as he
        drove away! Manual or automatic? There are deeper issues and
        emotions at stake in this album! I look forward to discussing
        them as well.

        The Dying Game          Shawn <smason@badlands.nodak.edu>
                Those who discuss how everyone died should just think
        of all possibilities. The only definite answer would come from
        Geoff himself, or Oliver Stone. It seems to me that this has
        been a problem for the script writers that have taken the task of
        the "Mindcrime" movie to hand. I say, it's your script and up
        to your own interpretation. Movies and music fall into the
        category of art. So why not treat it as art and say there are a
        few ways Mary could have died, and it is up to the individual to
        decide what he or she believes.
                        {Definitely a good idea. And who's to say that
                        a movie would have to answer the question?
                        "Video: Mindcrime" didn't technically give a
                        solid answer, and a movie could be vague.  -sh}
