        Lots of News Don <ai699@yfn.ysu.edu>
I just talked to my representative a few days ago, and
boy did I get a lot of info.
October 7th, radio stations will get their copies of
the first single, titled 'I am I.' The company will be sending
stores dump bins (those cardboard stands to put product in) of
the totem pole with the tri-ryche on the top, which is the new
cover. They're very tight with the advanced copies of the
album, but as soon as they're available, I'll be getting one.
There will be a Queensryche weekend coming soon on MTV to
        promote it.
The US tour will be starting in February, and I have a
possibility of meeting them backstage when they come - I'm so
excited. As soon as I get more info I'll let you know.

        The Promised Land Charles <crenner@umr.edu>
No sign of any music from Queensryche yet, but we did get
in a really cool - and really big - vinyl static-cling decal for
the new album. It's something like 11x17", and has the totem
pole/tri-ryche on it. At the bottom, it simply says
        "Queensryche/The Promised Land/October 18th."

        New Single Clive <c.mccaig@queens-belfast.ac.uk>
I have actually heard the new Queensryche single. It
sounds quite like something from "Rage for Order," maybe perhaps
a little more slick. That's the kind of mood I got, anyway.

        Release Date? <st40v@jetson.uh.edu>
When is the US date for release? I'm having trouble
        waiting.
{October 18th. You might want to pick up "Awake"
by Dream Theater on the 4th, if you really can't
                        survive.  -sh}

        Jesus Christ Superstar Don <zzthom@acc.wuacc.edu>
A recent post on ALLMUSIC suggested a remake of "Jesus
Christ Superstar" with contemporary rock singers. The suggested
cast included Geoff Tate as Judas, Chris Robinson (Black Crowes)
as Jesus, and Tori Amos as Mary Magdaline.
{For those who're confused right about now, one
of the longer-running misbeliefs about Geoff was
that he'd somehow been involved in one of the
                        original "Superstar" casts.  -sh}

        Bacardi Tri-Ryche? <pjhollow@wheel.watstar.uwaterloo.ca>
Leafing through a Sports Illustrated, I came across an ad
for Bacardi Rum. Is it just me, or does that little black bat in
the red circle look remarkedly like the tri-ryche?

        Order of Albums Stephen <smooge@cs.nmt.edu>
While we all know that "Rage for Order" came first,
"Operation: Mindcrime" second, and "Empire" third, has anyone
ever wondered if they might be in reverse order of thought
process? For example, on "Empire," the song 'Empire' is the
beginning point for the lack of order in society. The entire
"Operation: Mindcrime" album begins the revolution against the
corrupt society, and "Rage for Order" is set after the
revolution. I always see images of Nikki in 'I Dream in
Infrared,' 'London,' and of course 'I Will Remember.'
{That's a very interesting thought. Continuing
backward, we see "The Warning" that things in
our brave new world may not be as idyllic as we
believe, and finally, the EP, with songs which
deal with loss of souls and the like, indicating
that as so often happens in reality, the new
                        post-revolutionary order is still flawed.  -sh}

Hit Parader Top 25 Squrille <c561423@mizzou1.missouri.edu>
There is an article on Queensryche in the Top 25 Rock
Bands issue of Hit Parader. It's a one-pager, and the only
interesting piece of information is that Geoff Tate moved to New
York City for a while (post-"Rage," I think). The rest of it is
pretty non-descript. There's a photo of Tate from the Building
        Empires tour.

        Skinny Puppy Shane <esbrown@miavx3.mid.muohio.edu>
I was reading through the credits on the "Rage for Order"
CD and ran across a name that would explain their strange sound
on the release - sort of an industrial sound mixed with
progressive metal. The name was David Ogilvie - he is the
producer, mixer & brother of the lead singer of Skinny Puppy,
which is a leader in industrial music. In a picture I have,
Geoff Tate is wearing a Skinny Puppy tour shirt. I was
wondering if they have worked with David since the "Rage"
        recording sessions.

        Mailing Labels? Alan <bellivea@hellchild.ctron.com>
I'm looking for the address of the person who was
advertising the Queensryche mailing labels. I lost the address
and would like to check them out. Please e-mail me or mail the
information to the digest again. Thanks a bunch.

        Who Killed Who Stephen <smooge@cs.nmt.edu>
While this gets talked into the dirt every 6 months or
so, I have my own ideas about who killed who and why - which is
what I think the fellows at Queensryche wish us to do - think for
our selves and come to our own conclusions.
My interpretation is that Nikki went to break it off with
X, but did not have the willpower to not take the needle. He
leaves X, and goes to the church and in a rage kills the priest.
When he "sobers" up he realizes that he has been talking to a
dead Mary, and thinks he did it. Since this was the only thing
in his life that made it worth living, he gets caught on purpose
to pay for his one unforgivable crime. After hours of
questioning and detox, he remembers who really did it.
Since I am an optimist, I believe Mary was actually
killed by X so that Nikki would be framed.
