                                          -Edgar Cayce-

What's In A Name?
Since 1915, when Edgar Cayce first began discussing the design and
application of the device which I call the Radial Active appliance,
many names have been attached to it. At various points during the
following 30 years of readings, Edgar called it an equalizer, balancer,
magnet, static electric generator, radial machine, and radial active
applicator. At some point someone apparently transcribed the term
radial as radio, and from then on it became known as the "Radio-Active
appliance".
Actually, in 1915, the term radio-active may have suited the
concept, having pre-empted the advent of atomic weaponry by some 30
years, while closely following the discovery of radio frequencies,
however, this provided little consolation for the F.D.A. when a few
years ago they took an active interest in the Cayce concept, due to its
mention in a marketed publication. As their intervention at that time
was relatively effective, there has been very little interest in the
device since. The excuse the government used to suppress the concept
was that the device was falsely labeled, i.e., there were no radio-
active elements within the container.
In hopes of avoiding that particular scenario from occurring
again, I have evolved the original idea and obtained a disclosure
document from the patent office. Of course, if the government wants to
suppress this information again, it will take more than a simple
disclosure document to stop them.

Forward
When I first began preparing this article, I had in mind an
information package devoted exclusively to the design and application
of the Radial Active appliance. As I began to write I realized there
were basic premises which needed to be addressed pertaining to Edgar
and the readings which were fundamental to the discussion of not only
the Radial, but questions on the readings, as well as psychic phenomena
itself. This is not to suggest that I have all the answers, or am
living a highly evolved life myself, but I feel this is an area where
some guidelines may be helpful.
I have come into contact with a lot of people who have had a
sincere interest in certain aspects of the Cayce readings or psychic
information, who lacked a strong foundation on which to base their
experiential knowledge. Indeed, without this foundation, each of us
runs the risk of being philosophically blown about by every spiritual,
political, or emotional revelation that comes down the pike. In other
words, you must know what principles you believe in prior to getting
involved with these areas of study; and here is what you should
believe: no, no, no. You see, you almost did it wrong already. I'm
not here to tell you who or what to believe in. I'm only suggesting
that you believe in something, and know what that something is. This
doesn't mean your belief system has to be cast in cement. Certainly we
wouldn't be here is we had nothing to learn, however, it is my feeling
that without this premise we can not assess information, we can only
accumulate it.  Along these lines let me also state another premise;
decisions must be made. In my book, once sufficient information is
accumulated, a non-decision is worse than a wrong one. If we refuse to
take a stand on an issue there is no progress, as even a wrong decision
will render a learning situation.
Finally, I would like to say something about the world in which we
live. There are many things which we can acquire, but there are only
two categories which supersede the finite realms; knowledge and
understanding. Knowledge is of the world in an empirical sense, and
understanding is not. Don't be fooled by those professing to have
understanding, when all they posses is worldly knowledge, for without
an understanding of how to apply what is known for the benefit of
other, it is temporal. Knowing, then, becomes perhaps the most
peculiar facet of existence, for without understanding it is fruitless,
yet the more unnerving condition surrounding this matter is that
knowledge, once obtained, will become a natural detriment unless used.
