"Summoning Lucifer" background.

     The following two conversations were captured by (0:103/503:0) on
January 2, 1987 around six in the evening. The messages in UPPER CASE are
from the sysop, David Rice, and the messages in lower case are from Marvin
(last name withheld here).
     The purpose of the exchange on my part (David) was one of amused
tolerance at first, and moved into a psudo-counselor as I realised he
was serious. I have no doubts AT ALL that Marvin has in fact tried to
"summon" Lucifer, though his sucesses I think were doubtfull.
     If he did indeed summon these entities, I feel confident that they
were created in his mind only, and did not actually take on physical form.
The complexities of his answers are an interesting collection of well-known
magick Lore and wishful make-believe.
     Note the lurking hostility and "I don't care of the concequences"
that shadow the whole conversation (besides outright hostility at first).
This is probably how he thinks a "wizzard" should be, and may not actually
represent his true self.

 powers though and even on occasion i have summoned asmodeus

 the cicle is like a boundry and my power is trapped inside
 of it. well as i chant the invocation tho summon a being this
 power becomes intensified and when i finish the invocation if
 the power has intensified enough than the entity is forced to
 move through the ether into the mortal plane of exsistance
 some times they want to, sometimes they don't. lucifer doesn't
 AND i dont have enough power built up to make him so i need
 HELP. at any rate when the entity comes he/she is normally
 under my complete control[.] not always though and that causes
 PROBLEMS but at any rate they can't harm me inside the circle
 and i can most easliy [always] banish them. well when they come
 i either have them channel the power inside the circle for me
 or i have them "teach" me how to channel my power
 myself .that is [it] in a nutshell how wizardry works: you summon
 a creature[,] have him "cast a spell" using your power[,] or have
 him teach you how to "cast a spell" by yourself.

 well when in the circle the power gathers through

 don't go to the bathroon for days because it
 has clensed out all your wastes and your wonderfully
 exsilsilerated(sp?) mentally and spirtully it feel like you
 have just done
 a deed that you know God is smiling about. after the ceremony
 though you feel exsausted depending on how much power you used
 compared to how much you have and if you did something evil you may
 have a concinse (sp?) so you may feel bad.

 SOUNDS JUST LIKE WHAT I IMAGINE SEX IS LIKE (I WISH I KNEW FOR
 SURE!) I WAS ALSO WONDERING WHAT PREPERATION IS REQUIRED, TO
 NOT ONLY SET UP YOUR "WORK" AREA, BUT TO PROTECT YOUR SPACE

 as for set up, first you need to prepare
 an area inscribing the circle of protection that
 the sygil of the creature you wish to summon than you need
 to say a few chants to consercrate it. (the drawing˙of cickle
 and protesygil is do with chalk). i use the proper circle
 so i KNOW that anything i summon no matter how powerful
 cannot harm me. second you have to say seven psalms and consercrate
 yourself with holy water (A VERY HARD SUBSTANCE TO COME BY). p.s.

 this is always how my attacks begin (my
 attack by the way usally come after summoning a demon partially
 but not completing the invocation.) but long about
 the time i feel my breath starting to be suckerd away i use
 a will of energy to force the entity into my mind so that we
 may battle properly. this by the way is more
 dangerous because if the demon would ever win he would be in
 my mind and in total control.

     Well,  that  was  bizzare,  to say  the least. I did not wish to have
another conversation with this person, but  my ideas (sometimes misplaced)
of what the responsibilities of a system  operator should do dictated that
I at least acknowledge his  request  for  chatting. After all, it may have
been a reasonable request for some small SysOp-ly service I could perform.
     Sadly, it was more of  the same  as the past two sessions. I was very
tempted to hang  up  on  him,  but  felt  this   would  push  his  already
questionable  mental  state  over the edge. Looking back with hindsight, I
wish I had.

     Session three was a lot   more interesting  than the others, with his
violently  swinging state  of mind.  i.e. me  starting  as an "asshole" as
in session  one,  to a special  "relationship"  and "friend" in the middle
of session three, to hell bait at the end of session three.
     After typing in his last word "doom", he hung up.
     I feel this is a personality that is desperatly looking for a target.
Someone or something that  he can use to  vent his lack of  power over his
life's events. I have seen people  do anything, give  everything, and dare
anything to gain even a tiny victory- even if it destroyes them.
     Notice I said "lack of power" over his  life. He shows a  fixation on
gaining power at any cost, with  any means, even to  "consuming" demons to
get it.
     If I knew anything about mental  illness, I should have  known better
than to tell him that his choice  between "good" and "evil" were something
between himself and his God, and that it didn't  matter to me.  I say this
because I feel he very much wanted me to tell him to stop what he felt was
"evil" activities, and when I said it didn't  matter to me, he totaly lost
control.

     I will refrain from any more  contact with  this person,  and set his
usage to my BBS at a low level, which  will exclude  the C)hat  command. I
hope I have heard that last of him.
