Surat Shabd Yoga
A story of Masters and Masters-To-Be
Surat Shabd Yoga has different connotations in former history:
Science of the Soul, Yoga of Sound and Light, Sahaj Yoga, Path of the
Masters and Surat Shabd Yoga. This Path was also common in Sufi
tradtition and western mysticism though has never been put into a special
so-called system of thought there.
During the former 6 centuries it was taught by a number of Sikh-Gurus who
are also well known in the normal history. In fact Sikhism has sprung off
being the materialized religion of the same practical Path. But due to the
witness of all those Gurus this method of meditation was given already in
vedic times, and other cultures of the past like Aegyptian, Maya and
Atlantean. Before I come to the main concepts of this Path or Method of
Meditation let me give you a genealogical shortcut of the different Masters
of the last 6 centuries, at least as far they are known to me. As the
Masters say, that the world is never without at least one competent
Master, many may be left due to my lack of knowledge.
If you know of other branches of the same Method, let it me know!
They will be added to the line with great enthusiasm.

The concepts of Surat Shabd:
Man is not body, he and she HAS body, mind and intelligence.
Man is embodied soul, which makes her course from one incarnation to
another one including incarnations in lower species, in order to learn by
experience. By very good chance the soul comes into touch with a living
competent Master, who will give her initiation.
What is initiation?
The Master openes the inner eye and inner ear of the disciple in order to
see the inner light and hear the inner sound of God. With this first-hand
experience the disciple has to develop it by practice.
Further on the Master extends all possible help and protection on the inner
path of progress of his disciple.During initiation the Master gives you a
couple of words (Simran) which function as door-openers to the inner
planes. They are not the same as a mantra, but more, as they are loaded
with the life-impulse of the Master, so that you are protected by them at
any time and anywhere. The Master may give those five words in any
language he likes; mostly in Sanskrit, Hebrew or Arabic.
What is a Competent Master and what are his duties?
He is not defined to a special religion and encopuraged his disciples to
stay in the religion they belong to. A competent Master does live on his
own earnings, never takes money for giving experiences or giving lectures.
He only may collect money for the sake of welfare of others. All this is only
meant to give them a better basis for upliftment, because a hungry
stomach cannot sit for meditation.
He has steady inner access to the celestial planes and is not subject to
desires and sensual gratification of the world. He will never leave his
disciples till they have reached the inner plane where no smaller or bigger
destruction of the universe will reach them. He is full of real love for all the
souls in this world but will not like to mingle in political affairs nor setting
his disciples under pressure by means of magic or influence.
Duties of a disciple
To strive to adhere to the ten commandmends or the eightfold path
whatever you may prefer.
From these some most important are:
Unaggressiveness
Universal Love
Truthfulness
To give time for meditation the best 10% of the time, at least some minutes
every day.
To live a lacto-vegetabilian life which is most suited for progress in
meditation.
To abstain from drugs (and alcohol).
What is advised:
To visit holy congregations (Satsangs) mostly of other disciples under the
same Master, but also lectures of other real Sages are encouraged.
To exchange letters with the Master
To note down ones shortcomings and successes in a diary for getting more
help and for staying up to ones mark.
Profits and Aims:
In meditation large vistas of inner planes will open up. All kinds of inspiring
inner light will appear as well as holy men of all the times. The inner joy is
ineffable. The inner sound of celestial melody will entune your mind and
soul and clean it from all impurities. Impressions of the Past will be
extinguished. One experiences death during life and dies daily. In sleep too
visions of inner panoramas and Saints will be visited by the soul. The
Master will protect you as well as on the inenr Path as on your outer in
worldy life.
How to find a Competent Master:
You will be never successful in finding him. There are so many wolfes
clothed in the fur of sheep.
You will not be able to distinguish who is right and who is wrong. Some
proclaim to be a competent Master and are not. Some let proclaim they are
and are not. Some really believe they are and are not.
The only right way is: when the desire for reunification (religio) with the
creator-source gets so strong, that your whole being is reigned and drained
by it, then the Master will appear. IT is the Master who finds the disciple!!!
He will appear either in vision (dream) or in meditation or in his physical
form without your calling him.
If you have had a competent master on this line before who has died, you
may still need help from the living one to match with the physical duties of
this world, till you have full inner access. In this case you should never look
for a master of the physical form similar to your own or for one with a
similar kind of mind or intelligence. Like this you would never be able to
accept him. Wait for him to appear from himself and then accept him.
