Department requests an addition $81 million for cybersecurity
Just how the Obama administration manages cybersecurity has yet to be
laid out in detail, but the Homeland Security Department is expected to
maintain an important role, and the department=E2=80=99s budget request for the
coming fiscal year includes additional money for the job.
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano told the House Homeland Security
Committee last month that the department is seeking an additional $75.1
million to help it develop and deploy cybersecurity technologies to
counter =E2=80=9Congoing, real-world national cyber threats.=E2=80=9D Defensive tactics
would include deploying =E2=80=9Ceffective analysis and risk-mitigation
strategies to detect and deter threats=E2=80=9D across government.
