Title: Christmas stockings

      1 c  Shortening (part butter)
    1/2 c  Confectioners sugar
      1 ts Vanilla
    1/2 ts Almond extract
    1/4    -1/2 tsp. red or green food
           Color
  2 1/4 c  Flour
    1/2 ts Salt
      9    Candied quartered cherries
    1/4 c  Broken nuts
    1/4 c  Semi sweet chocolate pieces
           Easy Creamy Icing
 
  Mix shortening, sugar, flavorings & color. Blend flour & salt; stir
  into shortening mixture. Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 400. In palm of
  hand, pat 1 level Tbls. dough into oblong about 3* 1 1/2". If dough
  seems too dry, carefully add a few drops of cream. Lengthwise down
  center, place "surprises"-2 chocolate pieces, 1 cherry quarter, 2
  pieces of nuts. Mold dough around & shape into roll 3" long. Place on
  ungreased sheet, turning end of roll to form foot of stocking. Bake
  10-12 minutes. Cool. Ice tops & toes.
