What is Globalstar?


                            What is Globalstar?

   * A state of the art mobile satellite communications service
        o A small, handheld telephone that communicates via 48
          satellites
   * Extends coverage beyond traditional cellular coverage
        o As a compliment to cellular, Globalstar provides
          communications services to those areas beyond cellular
          coverage and areas underserved by any telephone system
        o Globalstar service will be available worldwide in late 1999
   * High quality voice and data services
        o Based on the same IS-95 CDMA cellular technology used by AirTouch
          in its premier market, Southern California
        o Globalstar will provide voice and short message services.
             + Future services will include fax, data, and Internet e-mail
        o Satellite diversity provides for at least 2 and up to 4
          satellites communicating with the user at any one time for
          improved service quality, fewer dropped calls and blockages
        o The multi-mode phone will operate either on cellular networks
          when available, or on the Globalstar network when traveling
          beyond cellular coverage
