Revised Red Box by telephreak of The Phone Rangers --------------------------- Later note: Well, when i was re-doing all of these to make them into text files and i realized every phreaking site on the web has a dam red box file. Now i just want the reader to realize red boxes rarely ever work, and i have one gotten them to work once in awhile when you SE the OP. I do remind you that a red box is an illegal device that can get you into alot of trouble if you get caught. But these are fun to make because just about every phreak out there has made one and its a good learning experince. Dont think your the master phreak or something by making this because you have a long way to go if your a newbie. Usually only newbies read red box files. Welp, the plans your about to read is plans you have probably seen before, but me and WMA thought of it and then we saw a bunch of texts about it, so i figured, we dont have alot of stuff on this page so, what the hell.....here are the plans....... What It is The Revised Red Box is a Tone Dialer, that has a switch on it that lets the user switch between the 6.5mhz Tones (red box tones) and 3.5 Tones (DTMF tones). So Basically you have a tone dialer that can switch between a tone dailer and a red box.It lets you make free fone calls from a regular pay phone then, you can make free ones off of COCOTS. What You Need Ok, now lets get this made already.....this is what you need: 1. 1 - Toggle-Slide Switch (i really have no idea what that switch is called, it has six little things you can hook wires up to it) 2. 2 - Wires (thin is good) 3. 1 - 6.5535 Mhz Crystal 4. 1 - Rat Shack 33-memory Tone Dialer 5. 1 - Soldering gun 6. 1 - Roll Of Solder 7. 1 - Small Screwdriver How To Make it Ok, First thing is to open up your rat shack tone dailer with your screw driver. After you do that locate the 3.5 crystal on the circuit board (it should be by the black thing in the middle of the board). It will be the only crystal that has 3.5 mhz on it. The 3.5 will probably hae a Z before it. After you Locate your crystal, you will have to wip out your trusty soldering gun, heat it up and desolder the crystal out. Then take your wires and solder them into the spot where the crystal was. Run the wires out of the vent (you have to pop out a screen or two with your screwdriver) of the tone dialer, then close the tone dialer up (screw it back together). Now, you have your switch hook the wires up to the two prongs (one wire on each)in the middle of the switch and solder them in. Take one crystal and hook it up to the two prongs on the left side of the switch (one prong of the crystal to one prong of the switch and the other to the other side of the switch. Do the same with the other crystal (except, of course hook it up to the right prongs). Mounting It Mounting it is the hardest part to me, me and WMA bent the crystals a little to make the switch smaller and we taped it to the back of the tone dialer on the part between the speaker and the battery case. I've seen others were people have them mounted on the side. Mounting is basically whenever you wanna put it. Welp, thats it, ENJOY!!!
