SSPU
This instruction describes connection of SSPU (Signalling and Speech
Processing Unit) to ETC or to IT/OT(PCD) and strapping on boards in SPPU.
SSPU processes PCM-signals according to the included functions. Each
function consists of its own hardware units which are independent of other
hardware in the SSPU. Thus the SSPU magazine is equipped only with the
necessary units for each application.
The following functions can be included in SSPU:
- Tone generator and tone receiver for inband signalling
- Echo suppressor with tone disabler
- Switchable attenuator pads
- Answer supervision

hardware
--------
SSPU hardware comes in 20 versions at the moment (BFD 129 516/2-21). Besides
effecting the number and location of the boards in the magazine the index is
also reflected in the strapping on board TBP in SSPU. The strapping is directly
translated to the HWCODE store in CP program for each SSPU.
The table below gives the relationship.
