By the wayside, I have a little and "cheap" hack.

If you use prepaid phone cards on payphones you know what a drag it can
be. They usally charge a "extra" pay phone charge that is usally insane.

To avoid this I have discovered the "Don't ever pay the payphone
surcharge" hack.

Pick up the phone,

dial 0-0 in rapid order.

Wait for the voice to come on, in my location of Butte Montana, it is AT&T.

Dial the 1-800 number that is on the phone card and follow all the
directions as listed on the card.
