 Have you ever been Beige Boxing? If so, you may be familiar with terminal
alarms. A terminal alarm system usually consists of one or two wires that
wrap around the outside of the box. If you cut them and open the terminal a 
silent alarm will go off at the Central Office alerting the Gestapo to your 
presence. The purpose of the Stop Box is to prevent the alarm from going 
off upon cutting the wires. Once the box is implemented you can make calls 
until your heart is content. It is very simple to construct and use this 
device.

Materials

(1) 30 gauge (or thicker) wire.
(2) Insulated Alligator clips.
(1) Soldering Iron and some solder.

 You'll have to count how many alarm wires are present. There are usually 
two but there may be only one or more than two. You'll need to make your own
special bypass wire for each one. To make one bypass wire, cut a piece of 30
gauge wire about three feet long. Strip each end and solder on two gator 
gator clips. When finished the wire should look something like this...

 Make as many of these as needed. Now go to the terminal and pull out the
alarm wires. Take out a pocket knife and strip back the insulation a bit. 
If the wires are placed over the terminal vertically, make one cut above 
and one cut below the box. If the wires wrap around horizontally make one
cut to the left and another to the right of the terminal. Be sure to cut
the SAME wire in two places. Next, take one of your bypass wires and 
attach the gator clips to the two stripped areas. Make sure you have a firm
connection. Repeat this procedure for each additional alarm wire. Once 
all the alarm wires are bypassed, take out your pocket knife and cut those 
wires that prevent you from opening the box. Be sure that your cuts are made
between the gator clip connections. You may now open the terminal.

 Why does this work? It works because you're adding extensions to the 
existing wires and bypassing the terminal completely. So, you're not really 
disabling the alarm, instead you're rerouting it to access the terminal.
Do not touch the clips once they have been attached. If they are removed
the alarm will go off. That's it.

 This idea was originally given to me by Catch 22 (jcatch22@aol.com). Since
I have not seen any files on the increasing problems of terminal alarms I
decided to write one. Once again, my hat goes off to Catch 22 for this great
